Team Brick Calls for Vasquez to Resign

Brick Township Republican reform group says Marc Vasquez should step down as Brick GOP President after becoming Chair of the Young Republican Federation of New Jersey

BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ — Team Brick Republicans is calling on Marc Vasquez to resign as President of the Brick Republican Organization following his election as Chair of the Young Republican Federation of New Jersey, also known as YRFNJ.

Team Brick says the issue is not personal. It is about time, focus, accountability, and whether one person can responsibly lead both a local Republican organization in Brick Township and a statewide Young Republican organization across New Jersey.

Vasquez has publicly promoted a goal of growing the Brick Republican Organization. He has also campaigned on expanding the Young Republican Federation of New Jersey across all 21 counties. Team Brick believes both missions require serious work and neither should be treated as a secondary responsibility.

“Brick Republicans deserve a president whose first priority is Brick,” Team Brick said. “Young Republicans across New Jersey deserve a state chair whose first priority is the statewide organization. These are two major leadership roles, and one of them will eventually be ignored for the other.”

The Brick Republican Organization is responsible for local Republican communication, membership, candidate recruitment, voter outreach, local issue advocacy, and preparing Republicans for future elections in Brick Township. The Young Republican Federation of New Jersey is a statewide organization with a much broader mission, including county chapter support, statewide events, leadership development, fundraising, recruitment, and political organizing throughout New Jersey.

Vasquez has to choose, NJ or Brick, not both!

Team Brick argues that both organizations are too important to be managed by the same person at the same time.

“This is exactly why local Republican clubs need clear standards,” Team Brick said. “If someone wants to lead statewide, they should lead statewide. If someone wants to lead Brick, they should lead Brick. But Brick should not become a side project while a statewide title gets the attention.”

Team Brick also said it will hold its own officers to the same standard. Under Team Brick’s leadership principles, if an executive officer runs for and wins a statewide Republican leadership position, that officer must resign from executive leadership of Team Brick. The organization says this protects local members, avoids conflicts of attention, and ensures the club remains focused on Brick Township.

Team Brick believes local Republican voters in Brick Township, Ocean County, and across New Jersey are tired of political organizations being treated as stepping stones instead of member-driven groups.

“Republican voters deserve leadership that is present, accountable, and focused,” Team Brick said. “This is not about blocking anyone from growing in politics. It is about recognizing that leadership comes with responsibility. If Marc Vasquez wants to serve as Chair of the Young Republican Federation of New Jersey, then he should give that role the time it deserves and resign as Brick GOP President.”

The call comes as Team Brick continues organizing Republicans in Brick Township around transparency, local-first leadership, competitive elections, and accountability within Republican organizations.

Team Brick says the future of the Republican Party in Brick Township should be built through open participation, active membership, and leaders who are directly accountable to the people they serve.

“Brick needs a Republican organization focused on Brick,” Team Brick said. “New Jersey Young Republicans need a chair focused on building the statewide organization. Marc Vasquez needs to choose which job he wants to do.”

Team Brick is calling on Vasquez to immediately resign as President of the Brick Republican Organization and allow new local leadership to focus fully on Brick Republicans, Brick Township issues, and the future of local Republican organizing.
